A few words about us

Welcome to the online presence of Calvary Bible Church. We are glad to be a part of our community and to introduce our friends and neighbors to the Lord Jesus Christ. Perhaps you are looking for a home church, curious about who we are, or just stumbled upon this website…either way we are glad you are here. Please let us introduce ourselves…

who we are

Our name Calvary Bible Church says it all:

this word is the name of the hill on which Jesus was crucified, on a cross, for the sins of the world.

It was here that the promise of eternal life was secured for all those who will repent of their sins and call on the name of the Lord to be saved. [John 19:16-18John 3:161 Peter 2:24; Romans 10:9-10]

the Bible is in the middle of our name because the Bible is in the middle of all we do.

We are not a affiliated with a denomination. We do not follow human traditions or the teachings of man, but rather we are students of God’s written word, the Bible, so that we may know God and know how to serve Him. [2 Peter 1:162 Peter 1:20-212 Tim. 3:16]

A church is a...

Community of believers who covenant together, under the authority of God’s Word, to encourage one another and to share the good news of salvation to the world. [Eph. 1:22-231 Cor. 12:13]

You are personally invited

We encourage you to visit us at any time. We welcome everyone. If you choose to come, we hope you will find a warm and friendly group of people eager to share the love of Christ with you.

what we believe
  We believe in:
    • The verbal, plenary inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures. The Bible is God’s written Word and is the only guide for faith and practice.
    • The unity of the Godhead in three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
    • The deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is true God and true man.
    • The virgin birth of Christ, that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
    • The personality and deity of the Holy Spirit.
    • The reality and personality of angels, including Satan, the adversary of God and man.
    • The fall of man and his total depravity. All men are sinners and lost apart from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • The reality and eternal existence of heaven and hell. Those trusting in Christ are bound for heaven and those not trusting in Him are bound for hell.
  • Salvation by the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross and the shedding of His blood.
  • Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as the only condition of salvation. Salvation is by God’s grace through faith apart from works.
  • The eternal security of all born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The physical resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and His glorified bodily presence at the right hand of God as our only High Priest and Advocate.
  • The imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to receive His Church unto Himself.
  • The visible and premillennial return of Christ with His Church to establish His millennial kingdom on the earth.
  • The physical resurrection of all men: the saints to heaven and the wicked to hell.
  • The importance of the local church in the fulfilling of the Great Commission through evangelism both here and worldwide.

What Must I Do to be Saved?

God is holy and cannot look upon sin.

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God almighty” (Revelation 4:8)
“For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you” (Psalm 5:4)
“You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong…” (Habakkuk 1:13)

Man is sinful and separated from God.

“None is righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear” (Isaiah 59:2)

Because God is just, man deserves to die both physically and spiritually.

“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23)
“And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15)

Man cannot save himself, even through his religious works.

“We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away” (Isaiah 64:6)
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy” (Titus 3:5)

Because God is love, He paid for man’s sin by Jesus death on the cross.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16)
“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities…and with his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5)
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24)
“And the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7)

You must repent, by the power of God, and trust only in Christ to save you.

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6)
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12)
“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12)

Salvation is a free gift which can only be received and never earned.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

When someone trusts in Christ to save them, God gives assurance of salvation.

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13)
